THINGS TO DO

  • Chinese New Year—February 10 in 2024, however it alternates between January and February.
  • Butchart Gardens’ Magic of Christmas – seasonal lights and illuminations (from early December to early January).
  • Dine Around & Stay in Town: from mid-January to early-February, take advantage of exclusive offers at hotels and restaurants.
  • Be a Local Tourist in Your Town – access to a variety of local attractions for a very modest cost (dates and details to be announced for 2024).
  • Saturdays of each week, Sir James Douglas School hosts the Moss Street Market.

February Frolics

THINGS TO DO
  • Family Day (February 19, 2024) is a statutory holiday in British Columbia.
  • February 14, 2024 – Valentine’s Day.
  • Victoria Film Festival — a film festival featuring screenings at several locations. (At the beginning of February.)
  • Moss Street Market, which takes place at Sir James Douglas School every Saturday.

March Madness

  • Easter Holiday – March 28 to April 1, 2024.
  • Capital City Comic Con: Held in the Victoria Conference Centre and Crystal Garden, this event features everything pop culture, including toys, comics, and games. (TBC)
  • Be a Local Tourist in Your Town – Get discounted entry to numerous local attractions. (From early to mid-March).
  • Jazz Vespers – at Victoria’s First Unitarian Church.
  • St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated on March 17, 2024.
  • St. Patrick’s Day Celebration – events on Government Street between Yates and Fort.
  • The 5th Irish Whiskey Hooley, a joyful event held in the Irish Times Pub. There are a limited number of tickets available, with earnings benefiting the free St. Patrick’s Day Festival.
  • Franco Fest is a francophone event put on by the Victoria Francophone Société. (2024 specifics must be validated.)
  • Moss Street Market is a weekly Saturday market at Sir James Douglas School.

April Offerings

  • April Fool’s Day is celebrated on April 1, 2024.
  • Easter Holiday – March 28 to April 1, 2024.
  • Earth Day is set on April 22, 2024.
  • Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival – from April to May (plans for 2024 to be finalized).
  • Moss Street Market – Every Saturday, an outdoor farmers and artisan market is held at the intersection of Moss Street and Fairfield Road.
  • The TC 10K – Victoria’s biggest running event (on April 28, 2024).

May Mayhem

  • Ballet Victoria – the local ballet group performs at the Royal Theatre. (TBC).
  • Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival – from early April to mid-May (plans for 2024 to be announced).
  • Cinco de Mayo will be celebrated on May 5, 2024.
  • Mother’s Day – the second Sunday in May, when mothers are given special treatment. (May 13, 2024)
  • Go By Bike Week – Previously known as “Bike to Work Week,” this free event encourages people to ride their bikes during the week. (In late May and early June.)
  • Hills to Shore Artists Tour – a self-guided tour of open houses at artist studios in Victoria’s Gordon Head region. (TBC)
  • Oak Bay Half Marathon – a half marathon, a half marathon relay, a 10K event, and a children’s 1K race. (Towards the end of May.)
  • Victoria Highland Games and Celtic Festival – a Scottish festival held over the long weekend of Victoria Day.(18 and 19 May 2024).
  • Victoria Day – a statuary holiday on May 20, 2024, with a parade and many activities throughout Victoria.
  • Performance Festival is a series of performances in the Parliament Buildings. (TBC)
  • The 123rd Victoria Day Parade, presented by CHEK TV, begins at Mayfair Mall and concludes at Douglas and Humboldt Street. (May 20, 2024)
  • 1040 Marwood Avenue hosts the Luxton Spring Fair, a carnival with midway rides and games. (Probably May 16-19, 2024.)
  • Victoria Beer Week – many breweries in Victoria are offering special deals and tastings. (In the middle of May.)
  • Canvas Family Fest is a free family-friendly event held at Veterans Memorial Park by Canvas Church. (Probably on May 20, 2024, but not confirmed.)
  • Spot Prawn and Fiddle Fest – MacDonald Park in James Bay hosts market vendors, a fiddle contest, and family-friendly activities. (Towards the end of May)
  • Swiftsure International Yacht Race – a large sailing race that takes place between Victoria and Washington State. (May 25 to 27, 2024)
  • Beach Food Days – food trucks on weekends on Ocean Boulevard in Colwood from early May to late August. (TBC)
  • Moss Street Market – a weekly outdoor farmers and artisan market held on Saturdays between May and October at the intersection of Moss Street and Fairfield Road.
  • Bastion Square Public Market – downtown on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from late April to early October. On Sundays, there is also a larger version. (This is subject to confirmation.)
  • James Bay Market – open from early May to the fall on the corner of Superior and Menzies Street.

June Journeys

  • Father’s Day is scheduled on June 16, 2023.
  • Raymond James Father’s Day Walk/Run – 3 km and 5 km walking and running activities to raise funds for Island Prostate Center, for cancer patients. (June 16, 2024).
  • June 21, 2024 is National Indigenous Peoples Day.
  • Go By Bike Week – Previously known as “Bike to Work Week,” this tri-annual free event encourages people to ride their bikes during the week. (In late May and early June.)
  • Brewhaw BBQ @ Vancouver Island Brewing (June 16 & 17, 2023) – craft beer, BBQ, and live music
  • The Victoria Pride Festival is a celebration of Pride and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. (In late June and early July.)
  • The TD Victoria International Jazz Fest is a music event that offers jazz music performed by world-renowned musicians. (In late June and early July.)
  • Beach Food Days – food trucks on weekends on Ocean Boulevard in Colwood from early May to late August. (TBC)
  • Oak Bay Tea Party is a community event in Oak Bay with rides at Willows Park. (This is in early June.)

July - Canada Day

  • Canada Day (Statutory Holiday) – There are festivities in Victoria’s Inner Harbour and along the Gorge Waterway. (July 1, 2024)
  • Beach Food Days – food trucks on weekends on Ocean Boulevard in Colwood from early May to late August.
  • Ronald McDonald House Vancouver Island Golf event – This year’s event will be held at the Olympic View Golf Course. Twenty-four percent of Ronald McDonald House youngsters are from Vancouver Island. (TBC).
  • Langford Beer Festival – an event at Starlight Stadium featuring beer merchants from British Columbia, live music, food trucks, and more. (TBC)
  • The Victoria Pride Festival is a celebration of Pride and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. (TBC)
  • The TD Victoria International Jazz Fest is a music event that offers jazz music performed by world-renowned musicians. (TBC)

Dog Days of August

  • Beyond Van Gogh is a multifaceted art exhibition that explores the life and works of Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. (TBC)
  • Victoria Symphony Splash – an August Long Weekend musical performance on a boat off the coast of Victoria, complete with fireworks.
  • Music by the Sea – live music in early August at the Victoria International Marina. (TBC)
  • The Victoria International Cycling Festival is a significant cycling race held over the August Long Weekend
  • BC Day (Statutory Holiday) – August 5, 2024 (TBC).
  • Dragon Boat Festival (mid-August) – dragon boat racing in the Inner Harbour. • Victoria Fringe Festival is a showcase of theatrical art held at different locations across Victoria from late August to early September. (TBC)
  • Beach Food Days – food trucks on weekends on Ocean Boulevard in Colwood from early May to late August.
  • Bowker Creek Brush Up – an art display along the Bowker Creek boardwalk in August showcasing several local artists. (TBC)
  • Vancouver Island Blues Bash – during the September Long Weekend, a collection of free and ticketed jazz events at different locations across the city.
  • North Saanich Flavour Trails – an Ol’ Fashioned Farm Celebration at the Sandown Centre for Regenerative Agriculture in North Saanich (TBC).

September Celebrations

  • Capital City Comic Con, held in the Victoria Conference Centre and Crystal Garden, is a celebration of all things pop culture, including toys, comics, and games. (TBC)
  • Saanich Fair – an early September fair in Saanich with various activities and rides. (From August 31, 2024 to September 4, 2024)

  • Island Prostate Ride to Live – a fundraising event with approximately 250 motorcyclists at Enrico Winery (in mid-September).

  • The Rifflandia Music Festival, held in mid-September, features local and international musicians. (TBC)

October - Boo!

  • Victoria Marathon is a Thanksgiving weekend marathon, half marathon, and 8K running competition.
  • Go By Bike Week – Previously known as “Bike to Work Week,” this free event encourages individuals to ride their bikes throughout the week.
  • October 14, 2024 – Thanksgiving Monday (Stat Holiday)
  • Victoria Festival of Authors, which takes place from late September until early October.

November Notes

  • Veterans Day (Stat Holiday) – November 11, 2023.
  • Tree Festival – from mid-November to early January (TBC).
  • Bear Mountain 10K – “Canada’s hardest 10K race” takes place in mid-November. (It will be held virtually from November 7 to November 22, 2022.)
  • Westshore Craft Crawl, a self-guided tour of art studios (November 12, 2022).
  • Christmas at Oak Bay is a week of holiday festivities in Oak Bay Village from the final Sunday in November to the first Saturday in December. (TBC)
  • Moss Street Market is a weekly Saturday market at Sir James Douglas School.
  • Light Up the City – the third annual event with Island-wide Christmas Lighting Contests (November 15th to December 31st, 2022).
  • 40th Santa Light procession (November 26, 2022) is a Christmas procession with many floats from Government Street and Belleville to Wharf.
